In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Jack Black stated that he intends to get up with his younger "School of Rock" co-stars later this year to commemorate the comedy's 20th anniversary of release. Over the years, several cast members have reconnected, but it appears that Black is planning an epic reunion to commemorate the 20th anniversary of "School of Rock."
Black went on to say that he will "100%" use social media to share photographs and videos from the planned reunion. "School Rock," directed by Richard Linklater and written by Mike White (author of "The White Lotus"), starred Black as Dewey Finn, a down-on-his-luck guitarist who forms a makeshift band of kid musicians while substitute teaching at a prep school. The picture also stars White, Sarah Silverman, and Joan Cusack, as well as Miranda Cosgrove as a young actor.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight from last April, Black stated that "School of Rock" was still the pinnacle of his career. At the time, he remarked, "My favourite memories are just of that group of youngsters and how fantastic and funny they were. "I can say without a doubt that it has been the pinnacle of my career. Honestly.” A Broadway musical with the same name and a Nickelodeon series were both inspired by the film.
Despite being the apex of Black's career, "School of Rock" is not the movie he is most proud of.
"In a weird way, it might be 'Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny,' because that's the only movie I wrote," Black told People magazine recently. "So that one is my real baby." Maybe it's not the best, but it's my favorite."
