'Even if it is the last year, why...', Sehwag is unhappy with Dhoni being repeatedly asked questions about retirement

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), is not happy about being questioned frequently about his IPL retirement, according to former India explosive opener Virender Sehwag. Danny Morrison, a pundit for the CSK vs. Lucknow Super Giants game on Wednesday, questioned Dhoni on whether or not this was his final campaign. Dhoni, though, responded to this in a humorous way. "You have decided that this is my last IPL, not me," he grinned.

On the subject of Dhoni's retirement, what did Sehwag respond?

Even before this, Dhoni was frequently questioned about his retirement by journalists and critics. Sehwag expressed displeasure over the inquiries, saying that even though this is his final year, he should reject them and refuse to provide an answer. Sehwag stated that Dhoni will respond to these inquiries on his own terms.

During a cricket show, Sehwag remarked, "I do not understand why people even ask?" Why do you need to ask any player, even though it is his final year? Let them take it; it's their decision! Maybe all he sought was confirmation from Dhoni that this was, in fact, his final campaign. Only MS Dhoni is aware of whether or not this is his final season.

How did the match between Chennai and Lucknow end?

The first time this occurred was during the IPL 2023 match between Chennai and Lucknow, where neither team was able to win and two points had to be split between the two teams. Rain was predicted for this game even before it started, and it did. Rain forced a stop to play just before Lucknow's innings came to a conclusion. Rain prevented any further play after this, therefore the game was abandoned. With this, both teams earned one point.

In this match, Lucknow batted first and amassed 125/7 in 19.2 overs. The Chennai squad was projected to receive a target of roughly 130 runs in such a scenario, and Dhoni's team might easily win this match. Rain, however, resulted in Lucknow gaining and Chennai dropping a point. The Rajasthan side, on the other hand, lost more as a result of the match's cancellation because they are currently in fourth position.
